A higher platelet concentration is a preparation measurement, not a guaranteed improvement in hair growth. The starting blood count, final volume and amount injected affect the meaning of a concentration claim. Current research does not define one proven best concentration for every person with pattern hair loss.

What does a platelet multiple describe?
A claim such as several times baseline usually compares platelet concentration in the prepared sample with concentration in the original blood. It does not by itself tell you the total number of platelets delivered, the volume used or how the preparation was administered. Two products can share a multiple and still differ in other ways.
The 2026 Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology review explains that final concentration is affected by preparation conditions and the final collected volume. Ask whether the figure is measured for the sample, estimated from a device specification or drawn from a separate study. Those are different kinds of evidence.
How is concentration different from dose?
Concentration describes the amount within a unit of volume. Total delivered platelet dose also depends on how much of that preparation is injected. A more concentrated but smaller sample is not automatically a larger total dose. The area treated adds another question when comparing treatment plans.
This does not mean the highest dose should be the target. It means that a single headline multiple is incomplete information. The clinician should explain the preparation in relation to the actual treatment and the evidence, without turning the consultation into a competition between numbers.
Do studies show that higher is always better?
No. The 2026 review describes inconsistent clinical findings: some studies linked higher platelet counts with improved hair outcomes, while others did not show that higher growth-factor levels translated into better clinical efficacy. Small samples, different follow-up and differences in hair-loss severity limit comparisons.
The 2025 meta-analysis also found incomplete reporting of PRP composition. These gaps make it difficult to identify a reliable optimum. A plausible biological argument can justify further research without justifying a promise that a higher-concentration course will outperform another option.

What outcomes should a useful study measure?
For a person deciding on treatment, hair density, visible coverage, tolerability and a meaningful follow-up period matter more than the preparation count alone. Hair thickness is a separate outcome from density. A study can show change in one measure without establishing an improvement in every measure.
Ask how an advertised laboratory result relates to controlled clinical evidence. Before-and-after photographs can help document progress, but they cannot isolate the effect of concentration if medicines, hair length, lighting or other parts of care also changed.
Should I ask for a blood test just to predict success?
A clinician may request appropriate tests when the history or examination raises a clinical question. A normal platelet count is not a validated guarantee that PRP will work, and a preparation specification is not a personal response prediction. Avoid buying broad testing solely to optimise a marketing number.
Tell the clinician about bleeding problems, relevant medical conditions, medicines and supplements. Do not alter prescribed treatment to try to raise a platelet count. Suitability and any investigation should be decided on clinical grounds.
How can I compare two proposed courses fairly?
Compare diagnosis, clinician assessment, the proposed procedure, baseline documentation, review timing, alternatives and complete cost. Ask what would make the clinician recommend stopping rather than continuing maintenance. A higher technical number should not make those questions disappear.
The best plan for you may include PRP, another treatment or further diagnostic work before either. A clear explanation of uncertainty is part of responsible premium care. There is no concentration threshold in this article that clears an individual for treatment or predicts their result.
What makes a premium PRP consultation worthwhile?
The value is in a diagnosis that fits your hair loss, an explanation of the relevant evidence and a documented plan with a review point. Ask how the clinician records the baseline, what alternatives deserve consideration and how a disappointing response would be handled. A technical label should be explained in plain language, with a clear distinction between how a preparation is made and what it has been shown to achieve.
For published London market context, Harley Street Skin Clinic lists lead-doctor hair PRP at Β£900 for one session or Β£2,440 for three. Those are that clinic's prices, not The London PRP Clinic's fees, and the services are not assumed to be equivalent. Price does not prove clinical superiority. Ask our team for the complete individual quote, the proposed number of visits, review arrangements and any later maintenance decision before you commit. No treatment response is guaranteed.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Bring a timeline of hair changes, previous treatment, dated photographs and a list of medicines and supplements. Mention pain, redness, scale, sudden shedding or patchy loss, because these can change the diagnostic pathway. Do not stop prescribed treatment to prepare for an enquiry. The clinician should establish whether PRP is relevant before agreeing a course and explain when another type of care is more appropriate.
